Good evening,

The youth and I would like to express our appreciation and gratefulness to each and every one of you for all your support and financial contribution.

Here’s what we, as a community, have accomplished so far.  As of today, we have raised $6,300 out of the $20,000, THANKS to you all!!!

We still have a way more to go and need your help.  On April 9th, one of our amazing youth, Kolya Souvorin, will kick off our online fundraising campaign on

(FAITHIFY is a crowdfunding site where passionate people INSPIRE, UNITE, and FUND Unitarian Universalist ministries.)

Please help us spread the word about our campaign to your relatives, friends, and businesses asking them to help us reach our financial goal.  The youth and villagers in Teacher Mante Ghana are depending on us to help make their dreams, of having a school library, a reality.

Please HELP US reach our goal!

Here’s the UUCA website that you can go to directly to make a contribution!

With grateful hearts and in service to our UU principles!

Following up….

After the youth service two weeks ago, several people “congratulated” me on this new library project.  In the slide show of pictures of the original library, they had noticed a child holding a “Thank you Joy Borra” poster!

So… if you are curious…. WABE radio broadcast a  Story Corps interview with me about how we built the library in Nkyenenkyene, Ghana. It was originally recorded and aired in early 2015.

If you would like to hear it, here is the link!…/storycorps-atlanta-giving-tuesday-an…

The original school library was dedicated in the fall of my 60th birthday. In February 2016 I turned 70, and so had re-contacted my Ghanan partner to see how the library was doing after a decade.

Dr. Ayittey’s answer was, " the library is now serving 10 additional villages with the elementary students next door using it every day. The library is so busy that they would like to expand it by opening a branch in a nearby village!"

That conversation started this second Ghana Library project!

I don’t know about YOU, but I am bowled over by the success of our youth to raise money for this new library!

As we adults have learned again and again since the Parkland shooting, teenagers can get big things done!

I’m expecting that they will soon bust thru their $8,000 goal and work it on up toward the $20,000 overall  goal….

Since the personal financial resources of teenagers is small, I encourage all us UUCA adults  (and our friends, relatives… spread the story!) to contribute very generously to this new library…

Funded by youth… For youth far away.

Thanks in advance!  Our youth will have a real sense of pride and success when they reach their fundraising goal…. thanks to your support!!!!

Love to you all!  Joy!
