I don’t know about YOU, but I am bowled over by the success of our youth to raise money for this new library!

$6,500!!!

As we adults have learned again and again since the Parkland shooting, teenagers can get big things done!

I’m expecting that they will soon bust thru their $8,000 goal and work it on up toward the $20,000 overall  goal….

 Soooooo…

Since the personal financial resources of teenagers is small, I encourage all us UUCA adults  (and our friends, relatives… spread the story!) to contribute very generously to this new library…

Funded by youth… For youth far away.

Thanks in advance!  Our youth will have a real sense of pride and success when they reach their fundraising goal…. thanks to your support!!!!

Love to you all!  Joy!

Here’s an update….  The “Too Young to Suspend” bill passed the last hurdle in the legislature yesterday and now goes to Gov.. Deal

This is an issue that advocacy, in this case led by one state legislator with  The Interfaith Children’s Movement (ICM), brought to public awareness and got handled.

This is what advocacy is all about… (and why it’s important fo join ICM as a member! hint, hint!)

This bill says that after a child (pre-K – 3rd grade) has been suspended five days in a school year, they cannot be suspended again until they have been evaluated to determine the underlying reason for their problem.

This happens to 13,000+ Georgia little children each year!

So it was a problem worth holding up, calling attention to, and getting handled!!!!

This is  concrete example of how child advocacy by ICM and it’s partner orgs. has made life better for voiceless children in 2018.

Thanks for the calls you made… and thanks to Nanda for posting it!

Forgot to say that the photo was taken last week in the original library in Nkyenenkyene village, Ghana.

The new library, in Teacher Mante village, about 5 miles away, will be similar to this….

Very simple. Constructed by the village residents who were supervised by a contractor.  The original tables and chairs were handmade locally also.

Make a financial gift if you can!  Joy!
